2006 TJ Auto PCM Issues

I am sorry to have missed the meet and greet last weekend, but I have had a reoccurring issue with my Jeep and it was back at the dealer where I bought it that night. I had an engine light come on as I drove it home from purchasing it so I took it back. (They are being very helpful and accommodating, although I did buy it as-is without warranty.) So no biggie, they changed an air sensor and off I went. 2 blocks down the road the engine light came on again so I turned around. They kept it and called the next day saying that they had ordered a new (used) PCM. Great! I went up the next day and picked it up and all was well until day 3. That morning I started the Jeep and as I drove out onto the road I felt a small thunk, or "trip" in the 1 to 2 shift. Hmmm... the next stop and start it did it again. I was a bit anxious but I drove most of that day and it was fine! The next morning, the same exact thing happened... but it was fine once warmed up. The next day... oh my goodness! It was a big ol' thunk! Scarey transmission type thunk! I took it back to the dealer again and started doing some research on the Jeep Forum. It seems this is an issue with 2006 Wrangler automatic PCM's. My Jeep is back at the dealer and they are flushing the transmission and checking the wires and the sensor. I am heart broken. I hope they can indeed get it fixed but I wonder have any of ya'll heard of this or experienced this?

I use to have an 06 LJ before I got my JK and when I heard that noise in my Jeep. I got stuck having to have the transmission rebuild done and unfortunately after that it never ran the same again. The Player

That is if I am remembering that correctly.

Bummer! I am not too worried about the transmission unless it ends up getting messed up due to the PCM sending it bad info.

I had an 05 LJ with an automatic trans and never had a problem like that with it. I guess it's an 06 problem. Too bad.

Just to up date anyone who is interested... after 4 or 5 rebuilt PCM's later my Jeep is working well without any hard shifts for 2 whole weeks. I guess the odds were that I would eventually get a computer with no issues. I hope it does not acquire any but I do have 2 years to send it back again so I am happy. party1

Thanks! I am going to try to get up to the sale next Saturday and get a bikini top and some advice from my fellow Jeepers!
